How to create a new blog in Blogger

For the blog zoom may I suggest that you put the following in place to help things flow


     Have 4 images in your email that you can download to your desktop
   2   Have 4 images on your desktop that you can transfer to your new blog
   3   Be able to split your screen in two > Zoom window on one side and your new blog on the other
   4   You must have a Google account (free). If you have gmail you have one. 
  You don't need a gmail to have a Google account. Click HERE if you need to view instructions.

                      How to split your screen - called Split view
              If you use a Mac  Click HERE to view instructions.
                or click HERE to view a video on same.

Would it not be very convenient if all snappers could access the blog and enter their own photos - number and resize them?

To do that the Administrator would need to do the following:
   Log into the blogger account
   Go to Settings > Permissions
   Click > Invite More Authors
   Enter their email addresses
   
They would then receive an email with the invitation link
They click on that link and log into their blogger account 
They will then be asked if they Accept or Decline the invitation
Once they click Accept they will then be able to contribute to the blog............

So I will continue to act as Administrator for the moment and with your permission can test run  this. I will send an invitation to all as per above to Accept the invitation. 
Later I can change one of the contributors to Administrator..... hopefully.

                       
I suggest that the new Administrator create a new email for the sole purpose of receiving the weekly photos. This to deal with “ lost photos”.

You need a Google account.

These are the 6 simple steps I followed to create this new blog.
There may be a new version of blogger out - so some of these instructions may vary a little.

Maybe the best way to follow this is with a split screen like below


On the left are my instructions and on the Right is your new blog.
Or you could use an iPad for the instructions and a computer screen for the new blog.
It is possible to split an iPad screen!


The large BLUE print gives you the exact instructions to follow.

Step 1     Type "Blogger.com" in your browser window



 Above you see that I have typed in the word "Blogger" in the search window.
Press ENTER and you get the window below.  Go now to step 2





Step 2             Choose "Create Your Blog" 
That should take you to "Select an Account" page which will show your email address.

If you have more than one email address
click on the email who want to be associated with this blog

I was given four options as seen here and chose the first option >>>>>




 Step 3           Select the email account   
After choosing my email  
I get the {Blogs List > Create a new blog} window  (see below) >>>>>


Step 4   
                So I now need to 
            1   add a Title (above)
            2    create an Address 
        3    select a Theme



Title :  Can be anything you like  e.g. My Photography Blog 

Type in your title now
The address is a little more tricky. Lets say that I choose "photo19" then 
.blogspot.com will automatically be added and I see the message >
Sorry, this blog address is not available.

Not a problem - keep trying until you get an address that you like and that is available.
When it is available you will see the message . This blog address is available like you see above when I chose "greatphotos66"
Take note of your new address now.

The address should be easy to remember
e.g. > TYz259Black  .....  is not easy
but this address for my painting blog is   jkpaints21.blogspot.com
My initials  + paints + the year

So you now have the address added
Example when I was putting this blog together for you I tried many 
various addresses none of which were allowed. 

Finally I settled for blognua19 which was allowed
 So the address of this blog that you are reading is blognua19.blogspot.com
(nua is the Gaelic word meaning NEW)
NB.  Write down the address of your new blog now otherwise you will not remember it!!!
Choose the Contempo theme. 


Now I notice that "Create blog" is not greyed out but is active.
It will only get active after you successfully select 
Title, Address and Theme
As you can see from "greatphotos66" blog above.

You can change the theme later so just pick "Contempo" for now and then
 click on "Create blog!"

This is your your new window below
DO NOT start clicking on stats, earnings, Settings etc.
Be patient!!

Step 5.      A)       Click the box (arrow pointing to it)
               B)      Click New post (above the box)









That is it - Job done . 
I have typed "Ready to go” in my new 
photography blog

Step 6        You see the word Publish on the top right.....
Click on Publish
Your blog is now online and can be added to, edited, deleted.


I can safely close this blog now because it is Published = Saved.
The address is    >    Blognua19.blogspot.com
Anybody who knows that address can open and view the blog. 
They cannot change it - they can comment (if allowed by you)


See    >>        Edit  / View  /  Delete          below.

When I click View I get to see the actual blog as it appears online (only after Publishing!!!!)

When I click Edit I can make whatever changes I choose to the blog.

NB    I cannot edit by going into blognua19.blogspot.com

NB You must click on Update every time after making changes.
If you forget the changes will not happen.

Adding script, screen grabs, video links, videos and photos to my blog.

  Adding script is as simple as clicking in the blog area and typing as I did above with "Ready to go......"      


                                               To add photos  
        Step 1           Put the photo/s on your desktop
                             The photo must not be large as in 60Mb - if it is it will be rejected 

This photo named "Fish.jpg" below is on my desktop and is 1.7Mb   
 
Use JPEG if you want to make your photos small enough to share easily over the internet/blog, but still retain fairly high image quality.       




       Step   2      Click in the "Insert Image" icon 
                           on top of the blog - beside "Link" 
                                                                 looks like this >>>>

I then get this Add Images  window(below) and select "Choose files" 
Note  "Upload" is selected and underlined in blue (top left)


After clicking Choose Files I get this window >>>>>

Click Desktop 
 then Fish.jpg
Then Open




Now click on - Add Selected above left




and here is the photo on our blog (Above)
When you click on the photo you get options re size.
The above photo is x-large.
Best keep images in the centre. You can Remove with a simple click
Adding a photo takes about 10secs from start to finish.

Partial Screen Grabs.
What is a screen grab?
I am using  iMac - So I press the Command + Shift + 4
(all 3 at the same time)
I get these crosshairs below.  
With the mouse pressed down Scroll around your photo (or text) to select it
and then release - you will hear the camera shutter sound
The photo is now on your desktop.


This is very useful when blogging.
As you can see almost all of the images/windows I used above are screen grabs. 

                     For Windows users :   To Take a Screenshot of Part of Your Screen
Press “Windows + Shift + S”. Your screen will appear greyed out and your mouse cursor will change. Click and drag on your screen to select the part of your screen you want to capture

How do you put a link on your blog 
to a website or YouTube video so that when you click on that link you go immediately to the website or the Video play? 
Easy .......

Click on the Link symbol on top of the blog
(on right side of the pen)

I now need to fill in  Web address and Text to Display
Lets say you want to link to this YouTube video on Aperture

I have circled the address of the video
Right click on that address and choose Copy

Now go to the box above where it looks for Web Address
Right click in that box and choose Paste
I told you it was easy.

For "Text to display" Type HERE
the word HERE  will appear in your blog now
So your blog would read something like this 

"For a good video on Aperture click HERE"

So now if  you click on "HERE" that Video will play 

NB  Don't forget to Update !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Blogger is a free blogging platform designed by Google. 
You need a Google account. i.e.  a Gmail address.
The main post entry window is basically a word processor where you can enter text and format it with buttons making words BOLD,  italic, use different colours make bullet lists etc.
There is a delete button available for every post and page.

Placing photos side by side or text beside a photo can be difficult!
It helps if photos  are the same size.
An easy way out is to use Photoshop to place both inside a New window 
Here you can make them the same size - possibly
File/ New.   Choose something like 6x4ins and place both images in this new file
And then save to desktop as one image - 

 

Interesting - when viewed on a phone or half screen they will appear under each other.

The process of transferring photos from your Email to the blog.

Open Blogger.com

1.  Identify the photos in your email
2.   Download to your desktop
3.   Take a note of who owns each batch   e.g  1 - 4 Michael
4.   Transfer photos to the blog   See Fish above
5.   Number and space them
6.   Enlarge to desired size
7. Save

How many images can you put into your blog?
As long as they are below 2048px max width/height there is unlimited storage.
